The middle image shows the classical theme of St George slaying the dragon. Around this are 16 saints (including the Mother of God) and two Archangels shown in half-length. The saints are enclosed within vine shoots, recalling the post-Byzantine True Vine icons and associated iconographies.

The palette has been kept simple - azure blue and gold - which imparts a luminous, fresh quality to the panel.
