A bishop (St Nicholas), an angel (Archangel Michael), and a Warrior saint (St George) stand facing the viewer. Above them is an image of Christ Pantocrator.

This icon represents a revival of the classical 17th century style that occurred in Russia during the 19th century. The work exhibits extraordinary skill and exquisite patterns that were characteristic of 17th century icon-painting, especially in Moscow.

A companion piece to this object - from the same workshop - can also be seen in this exhibition cat. no. WW026.
