This panel probably was probably part of the interior furnishing of a temple. The White Tara is seated within a geometrical arrangement of circle and square within stylised vegetal scrolling patterns. The predominant tomato red is typically found in Buryat art. She is is the female Bodhisattva of compassionate activity, the supreme mother and manifests the enlightened activity of all the Buddhas. She is said to see all suffering and respond to requests for help. Her yogic method promotes health and long life.
